Why It Matters
A gym full of Warriors, one night a year
Hoops for Hope isn't just a night of fun and friendly competition — it's an investment in our student athletes. As a small but growing school, BRCS relies on community support to build a strong athletic program.
Proceeds from this event go toward equipment, uniforms, and expanding our offerings so that any student who wants to play has the opportunity to do so — regardless of their family's ability to pay.
Whether you're playing, cheering, or just here to watch, every dollar you spend tonight helps us guide and equip the next generation of BRCS students, on and off the court.
Format & Rules
Pool play, then brackets, all in one night

Court & Rosters: Half-court games. 3 players on the court per team plus 1 substitute. Dead-ball substitutions only.

What to expect
Tournament night, start to finish
Every team starts in pool play, and the best teams from each pool move on to a single-elimination bracket. Here is how the evening runs.
Before 5:00 pm
Check in
Enter through the gym side doors on the north side of the building. Pick up your t-shirts, and sign a paper waiver if you haven’t signed one online.
5:00 pm
Pool play
Teams are split into pools and play every other team in their pool. Games run at both ends of the court at once, to 12 points or a 20-minute cap.
After pool play
Standings and bracket
Pool results are tallied, and the top two teams from each pool advance.
Late evening
Single-elimination bracket
Quarterfinals, then semifinals. Win and you keep playing; lose and your night on the court is done.
To close the night
Championship
The last two teams play for the title, and medals go to the winners.
Example: a 16-team night
With 16 teams there would be four pools of four, so every team plays three pool games before the bracket.
Pool A
- Team 1
- Team 2
- Team 3
- Team 4
Pool B
- Team 5
- Team 6
- Team 7
- Team 8
Pool C
- Team 9
- Team 10
- Team 11
- Team 12
Pool D
- Team 13
- Team 14
- Team 15
- Team 16
Quarterfinals
- Pool A winner vs. Pool B runner-up
- Pool C winner vs. Pool D runner-up
- Pool B winner vs. Pool A runner-up
- Pool D winner vs. Pool C runner-up
The first two quarterfinal winners meet in one semifinal and the last two in the other, and the semifinal winners play for the championship. Teams from the same pool can only meet again in the final.
This example assumes 16 teams. Actual pools, times, and matchups depend on how many teams register, and are emailed to team captains the week of October 26.
